RESIDENTS OF ALBURY WODONGA LIVING WITH NECK PAIN

Find Out Why Your Neck Really Hurts-

And What You Can Do About it.

If you've been putting up with neck pain or stiffness for weeks, months or longer, you've probably experienced pain:

  • Turning your head to check for traffic or reverse your car,

  • Sitting at a computer for a period of time (at home or at work),

  • Sewing, woodworking or doing other hobbies,

  • Finding a comfortable position to sleep in,

  • Reading in bed at night,

  • Swimming, gardening or playing with grandkids.

You may have already tried massage, dry needling or general neck exercises - with limited relief.

Perhaps you've had an X-ray or MRI of your neck and been told that arthritis or disc degeneration is the cause of your pain.

But what if there is a different explanation?

What if the reason your neck still hurts is because no-one has identified the movements, exercises and postures that actually reduce your symptoms?

At Personal Best Physiotherapy we look for a pattern in your neck pain and movement that helps us answer some important questions:

  • Are particular movements or postures contributing to your neck pain?

  • Can a specific movement reduce your neck pain?

  • If you have pain extending into your arm, can we bring that pain back towards your neck?

  • Can we improve a movement that is currently painful or restricted?

  • Is there one exercise that is more helpful than the others?

  • What changes can you make during the day to stop aggravating your neck?

This is part of a globally recognised approach to treating neck pain called Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) – commonly called The McKenzie Method.

We want you to find out if this approach can help you, which is why we’re offering a Free 15 Minute Neck Pain Screening Call with one of our experienced physiotherapists.

During the call, one of our experienced physiotherapists will:

  • Listen to your history of your neck problem,

  • Find out how your neck pain or stiffness is impacting your activities,

  • Discuss the treatment and exercises you have already tried,

  • Go through your past imaging (if you have had imaging),

  • Answer your initial questions, and

  • Work out if our approach is likely to help you.

There is no obligation to book an appointment.

Our goal is to help you understand your options and decide on the most appropriate next step.

Helping Albury-Wodonga Locals Reduce Pain Since 2010

Personal Best Physiotherapy has treated more than 6,000 people from Wodonga, Albury and beyond since we opened our doors in 2010.

Neck pain and stiffness is the third most common problem we treat, and several local doctors specifically refer their patients to us for our expertise in this area.

All our physiotherapists are trained in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) and we place a strong emphasis on helping patients understand and manage their own condition.

Read what our patients have to say about us below.

What Makes Us Different?

At Personal Best Physiotherapy we use a treatment approach called Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT), also known as The McKenzie Method.

This is a structured way of assessing pain and movement that does not rely on one test to decide how your neck should be treated.

Here are three ways that make MDT different to regular physiotherapy and other approaches:

1.      We use the power of movement to reduce pain.

Your body has a natural ability to heal, and this lies in the power of movement.

MDT harnesses this natural ability by identifying movements, exercises and positions that actually reduce your pain.

This can only be done by following a rigorous process that involves taking a thorough history and completing a careful examination.

It is totally different to the way most physio’s look at your neck.

2.    We give you one exercise only

You won’t leave your first appointment with a long list of exercises.

Where possible, we begin with one carefully selected exercise—the one that produced the most positive response during your assessment.

We then monitor how your symptoms respond and progress or adjust the exercise if necessary.

This makes your program easier to understand, easier to complete and specific to what we found during your assessment.

3. We teach you how to help yourself

Our goal is not to make you dependent on ongoing treatment.

We want you to understand:

  • Which movements and positions affect your symptoms

  • What to do when your pain increases

  • How to manage reading, screen time, driving and sleeping positions

  • Which exercise is most useful for you

  • How to return safely to your normal activities

Success means restoring as much pain-free movement as possible and giving you one or two simple strategies you can use at home.

Is This Screening Call Right For You?

The call may be helpful id:

  • You're over 40 and live in Albury, Wodonga or the surrounding area,

  • Your neck pain or stiffness has continued for several weeks or months,

  • Your pain is affecting driving, work, sleep, exercise or your normal activities

  • Previous treatment such as massage or dry needling has provided only short-term relief

  • You’ve been told your scan explains your pain but still don’t know what to do

  • You want to learn practical ways to manage your symptoms rather than relying on medication or passive treatment

The screening call is not a substitute for a full physiotherapy assessment. It is an opportunity to discuss your situation and determine the most appropriate next step.
